5 Ways to Pamper Yourself this Fall

The days are shorter and the weather is cooler: it’s definitely fall. And while the summer was the perfect dose of sand and sun, it’s time to slow down and embrace chunky knit sweaters and pumpkin spice everything. Of course, with fall can come a hectic holiday season, shuttling kids from activities, and meeting deadlines at work, so don’t forget to take a few minutes to sit back, relax, and pamper yourself this fall. Here are some simple ways to love yourself and enjoy a gorgeous autumn season.

Scent Your Home

One of the simplest ways to pamper yourself and upgrade your home is to use scent to make it smell like fall. That way, even if you’re busy, you can take a few moments to breathe and relax in your new home. Grab a few scented candles that contain notes of cinnamon and cranberry, or make your own home scent. Just fill a small pot with water, a few slices of orange, some cinnamon sticks, and a sprinkle of nutmeg to give your home the warm scent of autumn.

Try a Fall DIY Spa Day

Need a day to relax and put up your feet? You don’t need to head to a pricey spa to feel relaxed. Give yourself a fall spa day by coming up with your own DIY spa treatments. Mix a little almond oil with brown sugar to make a paste for a luxurious body scrub or use pure pumpkin puree as a mask (it’s filled with healthy alpha hydroxy acids to dissolve dead skin and reveal a youthful glow). Or simply take a fall-scented bath with a few drops of your favorite essential oils.

Upgrade to Fall Fabrics

You might have a few favorite fall scarves in your closet, but if you really want to pamper yourself, upgrade to fall fabrics. Cashmere might be pricey in a sweater, but you can find lower-cost cashmere scarves to bring your fashion to the next level. Or invest in a chunky knit throw blanket and give yourself the afternoon off with a great book. It’s amazing how fabrics can make you feel, so look past the acrylic blends for something of a higher quality.

Give Yourself a Fall Mani-Pedi

Feet need a little TLC after a season of your favorite sandals? Declare it a mani-pedi day and give yourself the works. Use a peppermint-scented scrub to slough away dead skin and add a little almond oil to soften cuticles. Then choose a fall-inspired color for your nails–we love a deep berry for fingernails and a marigold orange for toes–and finish it off with a topcoat to seal in the perfect pedi.

Commit to Better Sleep

Done with tossing and turning in the heat? Cooler weather can actually help you sleep better, so pamper yourself by making a commitment to get at least eight hours of slumber every night. Make sure your room is ready for sleep. Start by putting your phone in another room. A couple of spritzes of lavender essential oil on your pillow can help you get to sleep, while a satin eye mask can block out light that keeps you awake. You’ll be ready for all of your favorite fall activities with a night of great sleep under your belt.

Fall is everyone’s favorite season, and why not? Your favorite flavors return, and the long days of hot weather are gone. But don’t let all of the fall activities and holiday engagements run you ragged. By picking a few ways to pamper yourself, you’ll get the most out of every crisp fall day.
